Since falling short in Super Bowl LII, the New England Patriots have continued to remain in the headlines for various reasons. There has been much roster movement to possible retirement talk surrounding All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski.

However, the Patriots now find themselves having to deal with a minor dilemma away from the football field. According to Carlos Láscarez S. of La Nacion, veteran safety Duron Harmon was arrested on Friday trying to bring marijuana into Costa Rica.

The football player Duron Harmon, 27, belonging to the New England Patriots team, was arrested on Friday afternoon at the Juan Santamaría airport, when he tried to enter the country with a load of marijuana in a suitcase, authorities confirmed.

The reports also clarified that the Fiscal Control Police had searched his luggage to find a can of soda that he used to carry the drug that was a total of 58 grams along with three pipettes with marijuana oil, one THC confection and four glass containers containing compressed marijuana. He was looking to board a plane from Costa Rica headed toward Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Florida. Harmon was detained then sent back to the United States.

This incident should lead to some punishment handed down by the league that should see him get suspended for a few games for his actions. It is his first offense of any kind since entering the NFL five years ago, but there has been a zero tolerance for these type of situations.

Harmon had been originally selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Patriots where he has worked his way into a significant role in their secondary. In fact, he had inked a four-year, $17 million extension with the team last year. In the 2017 campaign, Harmon played in all 16 regular season games totaling 23 tackles with four interceptions and seven passes defensed.
