If the Philadelphia Eagles somehow make the playoffs, their fans should not expect Carson Wentz to return to the field, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
While Wentz—who has been sidelined since the beginning of the month with a fracture in his back—will undergo a scan after the regular season to see if he has a chance to participate in the playoffs, he will likely be sidelined no matter what.
Of course, the Eagles need to make the playoffs first, which will be a tall task.
Not only will they need to beat the Washington Redskins on the road on Sunday afternoon, but they will also require the Minnesota Vikings to lose at home to the Chicago Bears.
While that is certainly not an impossible scenario, the chances seem to be less than greater that the Eagles will get a chance to defend their Super Bowl title this postseason.

After all, it was Nick Foles who led the Eagles through the playoffs and to a Super Bowl title last year after Wentz tore his ACL late in the year, and it was Foles who broke the franchise record for most passing yards in a single game during Philly's win over the Houston Texans last weekend.
This season, Wentz threw for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 69.6 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 102.2.
He is expected to be the Eagles' starting quarterback in Week 1 next year.
