Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles have been anxious to see their franchise quarterback in Carson Wentz take the field this preseason. Those fans will be disappointed to find out that Wentz will miss Philadelphia's third preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Last season, Wentz suffered a back vertebral fracture and missed the final three games of the regular season and was absent from the Eagles' playoff games. It was the second season in a row that the former No. 2 pick sustained a season-ending injury; after tearing his ACL and LCL in 2017.
Due to his injuries in the past two seasons, Doug Pederson and the Eagles have to be cautious with sending him onto the field. Especially in the preseason, where the wins and losses don't hold meaning.
Despite the nagging injuries, in his three seasons in the NFL, Wentz has shown the capability of being a star quarterback in the league. In the past two seasons, the Eagles signal-caller has combined to throw for 6,370 yards, 54 touchdowns, and just 14 interceptions.

In the Eagles' preseason opener, Sudfeld suffered a fractured wrist and was required to receive surgery. Sudfeld was expected to miss six weeks and as a result, the team signed veteran Josh McCown out of retirement.
McCown will need to know the playbook thoroughly on Thursday as the Eagles plan on starting him for the first two-quarters of the game. Considering that he's played with seven different NFL teams prior to Philadelphia, it's likely that McCown didn't take long to get accustomed to the offense.
