Jalen Mills will be returning to the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal worth up to $5 million. However, he'll be embracing a new role, “something similar” to the role Malcolm Jenkins had with the Eagles. According to Mills, he'll be more of a hybrid player this upcoming season as he expects Jim Schwartz to play him at the nickel corner, dime linebacker, or free safety.
In a recent interview with Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports, Mills expressed that he sees himself as a Charles Woodson type player.

“I see myself as a Charles Woodson type, a guy who can just play it all,” Mills said. “You can line me up from the left side of the field all the way to the right side of the field.”
Nevertheless, Mills does acknowledge the enormous shoes he'll have to fill with the departure of Jenkins. In the same interview with Zangaro, Mills spoke out about Jenkins.
“That’s going to be big bro forever,” Mills said of Jenkins. “I think as far as expectations, his name holds the weight. He’s a Philly icon, Philly legend. I feel like his jersey should probably get retired there. As far as people saying that [about replacing Jenkins], I know for sure it’s going to be a really, really big target on my back.”
In his three seasons with the Eagles, Mills has recorded 209 tackles, 37 passes defended and four interceptions. In addition, he's allowed a completion percentage of just 57.4 when quarterbacks throw at him this past season.
