The Philadelphia Eagles have an injury-riddled cornerback room to begin training camp. That led them to bring in Orlando Scandrick for a workout.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Philadelphia is going to sign Orlando Scandrick. Scandrick's workout must have gone well for the Eagles to feel confident in signing him.
The Eagles are in desperate need of depth at the cornerback position. Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby, and Cre'Von LeBlanc are all sidelined to begin training camp. Mills and Darby are recovering from season-ending injuries from 2018 while LeBlanc is in a walking boot with a recent injury.
All three of those guys are questionable to start in Week 1.
As for Scandrick, he played with the Kansas City Chiefs last season.
Article Continues BelowWith the Chiefs, Scandrick started in seven games, totaling one interception and 13 deflections. It has to be said that Scandrick isn't as athletic as he once was earlier in his career.
Before joining the Eagles, Scandrick has experience in the NFC East. He spent a decade — 2008-2017 — with the Dallas Cowboys. Therefore, he knows what it's going to take to take the division crown.
Currently, Avonte Maddox and Sidney Jones will likely start, but Scandrick could quickly find a role in the defense. Getting some reps and learning the defense will be vital for Scandrick as the Eagles wait for some of their guys to return from injuries.
Training camps have just begun, so there's no need to rush any of their guys back with a little over a month until the regular season begins. At least, the Eagles signed a veteran — Orlando Scandrick — to fill the void for now at the cornerback position.
