The Carsen Wentz trade talks have been growing louder by the day and the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback's tenure with the team may soon come to an end. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, there are rumblings that the Eagles may also look to include tight end Zach Ertz in a potential deal centered around Wentz.

There is a possibility that Philadelphia could just cut Ertz outright, but trading him for a valued return would certainly be their preference. The 30-year old will head into the final year of the 5-year, $42.5 million extension he signed in 2016.

Ertz has been a long-time fan favorite in the City of Brotherly Love. Drafted in the 2nd round by the Eagles back in 2013, the former Stanford standout became one of the focal points in Philly's passing attack over the last decade. He helped the Eagles capture the Super Bowl LII crown, went to three Pro-Bowls, and made the First Team All-Pro in 2018.

However, his play dropped off significantly this past season as he recorded just 36 receptions for 335 yards through 11 appearances. Ertz also only had one touchdown to his name this year. Those numbers are certainly a far cry from the record-setting campaign he had just three years ago, where his 116 catches set the record for most receptions ever by a tight end.

Ertz had a tearful Zoom call earlier this year when the Eagles closed their 2020 season with a loss to the Washington Football Team. The conference certainly looked like a goodbye from the 3-time Pro-Bowler and it's looking more likely that he will wear a different uniform next season.

Ertz's eight-year tenure in Philadelphia may be coming to an end, but he will undoubtedly forever remain in the hearts of Eagles fans no matter where he plays.
