The New York Jets are expected to fire head coach Todd Bowles after four seasons steering the ship, per Ian Rapaport.

This was a long time coming, and both camps knew that it was a possibility in the near future.

When Bowles was asked about his job performance and security on Friday, he only had one thing to say:

“The record says it all.”

Even though he did win 11 years in his inaugural year as the Jets head coach in 2015, since then he's been pretty bad. This year he's only won four games for the team, and this year he has to win a game to even get to five wins. This is an unacceptable performance from any head coach and it's not surprising in the slightest that the Jets front office wishes to move on.

Bowles will likely draw interest from the Arizona Cardinals and their head coaching vacancy. But he'll be fighting with former Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions coaches Mike McCarthy and Jim Caldwell for that position anyways.

A more likely fit for Bowles would be replacing Vic Fangio, the defensive coordinator in Chicago if he earns himself a head coaching gig this offseason. Bowles would most definitely be a favorite to replace him. Head coach Matt Nagy and Bowles have a very close and extensive working relationship.

Unless Bowles decides to take a few years off, there's definitely going to be a job opening as a defensive coordinator open for him this offseason. Only time will tell which team that might be.
