The Pittsburgh Steelers were rumored to be making a blockbuster trade on Friday that would send superstar wide receiver Antonio Brown elsewhere. Although that may still happen, the storied NFL franchise chose to make another deal in the meantime involving offensive tackle, Marcus Gilbert.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers have traded Gilbert to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals were a disaster on offense during the 2018 NFL season. Despite having high hopes with a talented young quarterback under center in Josh Rosen, Larry Fitzgerald returning to be a threat downfield, and David Johnson healthy once again in the backfield, Arizona failed to live up to expectations and as a result, own the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Gilbert should be an upgrade for the Cardinals on the offensive line as they try to bounce back from a forgettable 2018 campaign. The real question moving forward is who the newcomer will be protecting in 2019. Rosen is rumored to be on the trading block with head coach Kliff Kingsbury potentially targeting quarterback Kyler Murray out of Oklahoma come draft day.
As for Gilbert, the Florida product began his career in the NFL back in 2011 with the Steelers selecting the 63rd overall pick that year. He has helped protect arguably one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Ben Roethlisberger during the time starting in 87 of the 88 regular season games he played with Pittsburgh.
It'll be interesting to see if Arizona continues to make moves in an effort to get better protection up front, especially with all the rumors about a change at quarterback.
