Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva came under a lot of fire earlier this season over a mishap that happened prior to the national anthem in what was meant to be a showcase of team unity.

A military veteran, Alejandro Villanueva, was slightly “more out of” the tunnel than the rest of his teammates, resulting in him becoming a talking-point in an already hijacked by politicians movement. Something he clearly wanted no part of.

However, he does obviously still cares deeply for his military background. With Veteran's Day here, the offensive lineman is going to be including some of his teammates, as he attempts to honor them this weekend.

“It’s just a small-unit patch that really doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, but the history behind it means the whole world to a lot of veterans,” Villanueva said, via ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “They died for that patch. When you watch the Steelers on Sunday and you see the flash of the 10th [Mountain] Division and the 7th [Infantry] Division … you’re calling out specific units.”

Whatever your feelings are for the protests, the government as it is currently operating, or whatever else have you, no one is actually speaking for, or on behalf, of the troops. Veterans still have a debacle of a time in the VA system, far too many remain homeless after serving, and so on.

Talk is talk. Someone actually helping them, instead of using the entire military as a trope to push agendas, would be awesome.

Even if it is only just for a single weekend, let's not turn what is meant to be a gesture to Villanueva's military brethren into some sort of political debate.
