Despite his limited action, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver has managed to capture headlines in training camp this offseason. Unfortunately, his return to practice was short-lived after another minor setback.
Brown had missed over a week with a quadriceps injury before getting some action in last Saturday. However, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, he was seen limping off the practice field.
Antonio Brown limps off practice after some early individual work.
The nature of his injury is still unknown at the moment, however, it is safe to assume that it may have occurred in the lower extremities. Fortunately, it does not seem to be too severe, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler:
Antonio Brown on Monday participated in individual drills but not team work. He’s walking and dancing from the sideline without any noticeable pain or limping. Steelers aren’t going to push his leg injury. “It’s August,” coach Mike Tomlin said.
Brown limping off the field is something fans never want to see. However, the fact that he was able to walk under his own power is certainly encouraging. That said, the Steelers will likely take every precaution they can with their star wideout ahead of the 2018 NFL season.
At this point, it is safe to assume that Brown will miss the entire preseason as well. Fortunately, Pittsburgh does not need to worry about a player of his caliber being ready for the regular season. Although his return to action was brief, it was definitely newsworthy. One fan was seen trying to challenge Brown to a little one-on-one action during practice. This is the same drill where he would later manage to make mincemeat of the cornerbacks. That said, there is hardly any doubt that he will be able to maintain his status as the best receiver in the NFL.
