When Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown was asked about his slow start to his season, he had a clear message for everyone: “Watch the tape”. He said that line eight times before he gave a more detailed answer, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
“My statistics are already there. I’ve already done everything from a statistical point,” Brown said. “Obviously, it’s out of my control. I can’t throw it to myself. But what’s important is we continue to win. I’m getting a lot of respect out there. Guys are doubling me, tripling me. But what’s new? We’ve got to continue to win. Winning is most important. Obviously I think I’m the top-rated receiver from 2010 [among] who’s in the league. It’s all about winning at this point.”
Currently, Brown has just 24 receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns. He's only third in the league with 42 targets and second in his team in both receptions and yards behind Juju Smith-Schuster.
Article Continues BelowAs a team, the Pittsburgh Steelers already have more than enough drama as star running back Leveon Bell still hasn't played because of a contract dispute which is causing an apparent divide in the locker room. Then, there was Antonio Brown skipping a meeting and being disciplined for it. There was also the tweet from Brown directed to a Steelers employee suggesting a trade.
Aside from the issues outside the field, there is also a lot of problems inside it. On their first 2 games, they had to settle for an ugly tie with the Cleveland Browns and then got hammered by the Kansas City Chiefs. They played better in their win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Steelers certainly hope that if they can continue their winning ways, the drama will die out with it.
