Cam Heyward is an important member of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense, and he has an important message for his teammates who aren't as invested as him. The Steelers are 1-2-1. This is not where they expected to be four weeks into the regular season.

They have only won one game since they tied the Cleveland Browns in their season opener. On Sunday, they lost 26-14 in their Week 4 rivalry game with the Baltimore Ravens. Heyward thinks if his defense doesn't have faith in the team, they should be elsewhere.

“It’s about believing in the defense,” Heyward told Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I’m not for big speeches. I look for guys to step up. The kitchen is hot right now, and everyone is looking to get out, so we have to get to work and settle it down. Either buy in, or don’t get on the field.”

The Steelers have given up an average of 29 points per game this season, giving them the 7th highest average in the NFL this year. Their sack and interception numbers aren't bad, but they can't seem to get stops when they need them.

“It’s assignment football and being more accountable,” Heyward said. “It’s understanding rush and coverage work together. If the rush doesn’t get there, we have to get our hands up. We have to get better push. And our secondary has to make some plays. If we’re in man, we have to keep our leverage inside. In the run game, we have to be in our gaps and stay sound, not shooting blocks and trying to make plays. Our defense isn’t about making plays. It’s about doing your job.”

Cam Heyward and the rest of the Steelers defense will have to do their jobs against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5. If they don't their fans will be waving their Terrible Towels from the dead last in the AFC North.
