The Pittsburgh Steelers will have yet another representative on the AFC Pro Bowl squad in Orlando later this month. Defensive end Cameron Heyward has been added to the team after Oakland Raiders star Khalil Mack withdrew due to an injury, Lauren Kirschman of PennLive.com reports.
After an injury-shortened 2016 season, Heyward, 28, came back with a vengeance as he had a breakout year with the Steelers in 2017. He recorded a career-best 12.0 sacks, which is the second-most in a single season for a Steelers defensive lineman.
Heyward also added 45 tackles two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as he made First-Team All-Pro for the first time in his career. But despite his stellar season, Heyward was conspicuously not voted into the Pro Bowl.

He will join Steelers teammates in wide receiver Antonio Brown, tackle Antonio Villanueva, guard David DeCastro, center Maurkice Pouncey, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, running back Le'Veon Bell and kicker Chris Boswell on the AFC squad, which will also be led by Mike Tomlin and the Steelers’ coaching staff.
Linebacker Ryan Shazier was also selected to the Pro Bowl, although he won’t play after suffering a serious spinal injury.
As for Mack, he had another productive season for the Raiders despite a disappointing year for the team as a whole. The star pass rusher had a career-high 78 tackles and 10.5 sacks, his third-straight season of double-digit sacks. But despite being selected to the Pro Bowl for the third consecutive year, Mack missed out on a third straight First-Team All-Pro selection.
