Former Los Angeles Chargers full back Derek Watt is now officially a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Of course, it probably helped that Watt's brother, T.J., is a staple of the Steelers defense as a Pro Bowl pass rusher.

Now formally announced as one of the team's newest players, Watt has since opened up about why Pittsburgh was obviously the right choice for him in the end.

“I think what made Pittsburgh a great fit for me was the culture that they have there, the tradition that they have built,” Watt recently said, via the team's official website. “They are a hard-working, blue-collar, tough-nosed organization. I just feel like it kind of fits the way I was raised and the way I try to play the game.”

Although billed as a fullback, Watt is truly a jack of all trades. As a result of the 2019 campaign, he notably played 325 special teams snaps. On the offensive side of the football, Watt produced 72 run-blocking snaps alongside a mere four pass-blocking snaps.

It is also worth noting that Watt, in what would become his final season as a member of the aforementioned Chargers, produced eight rushing attempts for 10 yards and one touchdown as well. He will surely be able to help Pittsburgh in a variety of different ways, presumably leading to the heralded franchise's interest in him as a free agent this offseason.

Last season, the Steelers missed out on the postseason by the skin of their teeth despite encountering a slew of notable injuries along the way.
