Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was a full participant in practice on Friday. The 2018 Pro Bowler is recovering from a knee injury and has not played since Week 11. Will he be available for Week 16 against the New York Jets?

That's 50/50.

On Friday, after practicing, Smith-Schuster told Pittsburgh media that he will be a game-time decision for Sunday's bout in New Jersey, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network. It's all about the pain, as he said.

If Smith-Schuster were to play, he would be a massive boost to the Steelers' offense led by undrafted rookie quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges. Pittsburgh has struggled to move the ball consistently. Though the Jets don't poise as a massive threat defensively, the Steelers can say the same about their offense.

Smith-Schuster has not enjoyed the season he thought he'd have after becoming the No. 1 wide receiver following the Antonio Brown trade. While playing 10 games, the third-year wide out has 38 receptions for 524 yards and three touchdowns — a stark decline from his 2018 campaign.

While Smith-Schuster has not lit the NFL up as many expected, he still can make Hodge's job easier. His skill set would take attention away from other wide receivers, in turn, creating open passing lanes for the likes of James Washington and Diontae Johnson.

The Steelers sit at 8-6 through 14 weeks of play. That positions them in the AFC playoffs, specifically, the sixth seed. If they want to stay there, they must win out, which includes beating the Jets on Sunday and the Baltimore Ravens in the next week.
