As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers kicked off their 2018 NFL season without Le’Veon Bell, who watched his team take a draw against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday instead.

Bell would’ve been a great offensive weapon for the Steelers in that game, though, he was apparently paying attention to what was going on in Cleveland, as evidenced by a message he posted on his Twitter account with only a single emoji.

There are a lot of alibis Le’Veon Bell could have used to deny that his tweet had something to do with the Steelers blowing a 14-point lead entering the fourth quarter nor with anything about the game, but he later admitted, albeit indirectly, several minutes later that his tweet was about the game ending in a tie.

Indeed, the Steelers and the Browns concluded the game in a 21-21 draw, as neither team was able to find the end zone nor kick a field goal successfully in overtime. If anything, it ended the Browns’ 17-game losing skid that started way back in 2016.

The Steelers, however, may have found a new star, as second-year running back James Conner exploded for 135 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries. He also added 57 receiving yards on five receptions in showing that he is capable of covering the glaring hole temporarily left by Bell in Pittsburgh’s backfield.

The Steelers are still waiting for Bell to sign the franchise tag tender they have put on his table in March. They will continue their search for the team’s first win of the season next Sunday at home against the Kansas City Chiefs.
