Ahkello Witherspoon joined the Seattle Seahawks this offseason after spending his first four seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. Before his career with the Seahawks even got started, they decided to trade him. Witherspoon was sent to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday to help bolster Mike Tomlin's secondary.

Seattle themselves are pretty thin at cornerback so trading Witherspoon would appear to be a sign that they didn't like what they saw from the fifth year corner.

Witherspoon was pretty good with the 49ers in his four seasons in San Francisco. He started in 33 of the 47 total games he played but did not register a full season played in any of the four years.

The Steelers are looking to boost their secondary and they have plenty of reasons to be optimistic about their defense as a whole entering the 2021 season.

The AFC North appears to be loaded with the Steelers, Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns all coming off playoff appearances a year ago. And don't forget about the Cincinnati Bengals who get Joe Burrow back this season coming off a torn ACL last year. Cincy also went out and they drafted Ja'Marr Chase, the stud wideout from LSU.

With weapons galore on offense around the division, the name of the game in the AFC North could be consistent play on the defensive side of the ball. The Steelers will hope that Witherspoon provides some of that consistent play for their secondary.
