After being released by the Houston Texans, defensive end JJ Watt now finds himself as a free agent. But it didn’t take long for other teams to start sending hints about recruiting his services, with his brother, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end TJ Watt, even tweeting about the possibility of playing with him.

TJ Watt is coming off a strong season for the Steelers, finishing as a member of the All-Pro First Team, a Pro Bowl selection, and the NFL's leader in sacks. Aside from the 26-year-old, their brother Derek also plays for Pittsburgh as a fullback, and the idea of reuniting with his brothers will certainly appeal to JJ Watt.

The 31-year-old spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Texans, tallying 101 sacks, 172 tackles for loss, 61 passes defended, and 25 forced fumbles. He is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner and led the NFL in sacks in 2012 and 2015. However, he has been slowed down by injuries in recent seasons, and he finished the 2020 season with just five sacks, 14 tackles for loss, two passes defended, and two forced fumbles, far from his numbers in past seasons.

Joining the Steelers would put Watt back into playoff contention, with Pittsburgh coming off a year that saw them finish with a 12-4 record before losing to the Cleveland Browns in the AFC Wild Card Game. Watt may not be the same player as he was in the past seasons, but seeing him reunited with his younger brothers TJ and Derek and going after opposing quarterbacks would be a sight to see and would definitely improve the Steelers' defense.
