In Pittsburgh Steelers news that's not related to Antonio Brown, a new report suggests that the team is currently considering the transition tag for Le'Veon Bell.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the team would do this because they're interested in trading him, not keeping him.

“Ideally, the Steelers would find a team interested in Bell, place the transition tag on him, sign him and trade him to that interested team the same day. That way, they are guaranteed compensation for the former All-Pro running back, whether in the form of a player or a draft choice.”

The outlet is reporting that they're considering this move because Bell has “disruptive situations” that the team no longer wants to deal with, no matter how good of a player he is.

For what it's worth, the transition tag is a valuable one. It's estimated to be worth approximately $9.5 million to $14.5 million for one season, pending arbitration. This suggests that the Steelers could match any deal offered to Bell on the open market.

But that said, the Steelers are still in a precarious position. Bell and his agent would still have to accept the terms presented by the team, which is unlikely given what's gone on these past two seasons. And, if a team makes an offer that the Steelers refuse to match after seven days, the Steelers will get no compensation in return.

None of this sounds like a pleasant situation for anyone involved, but hopefully, it all works out for the best.
