While Geno Smith has certainly been alright for the Seattle Seahawks at quarterback while filling in for an injured Russell Wilson, head coach Pete Carroll revealed that the team has had conversations with an array of other quarterbacks. It's a list that includes Cam Newton, although Carroll wouldn't go into specifics.

Newton's own reveal on his YouTube channel stating that he has a few offers is quite peculiar if only because if that is true, why hasn't he taken one yet? There likely isn't a perfect situation out there for Newton to be waiting around for so if he has a few offers, one would imagine he'd snatch it up. Perhaps the Seahawks are one of those teams.

Meanwhile, Smith started Sunday night for the Seahawks in their 23-20 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Smith played fine going 23 of 32 for 209 yards and a touchdown. He had a super costly fumble that put the Steelers in field goal range in overtime, an opportunity they would convert on.

It's anyone's guess at this point as to whether or not the Seahawks will stick it out with Smith or bring in more competition with Wilson out. It's a tough spot for Smith to be and given the circumstances, he has played well. Seattle however, might view Newton as a big upgrade.

The Seahawks have another primetime matchup in Week 7 when they welcome in the New Orleans Saints to Seattle on Monday Night Football. As of now, Smith will be under center.
