The Seattle Seahawks have released cornerback Jamar Taylor, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Pelissero notes that Taylor had been the frontrunner to land the nickelback job for much of training camp. The Seahawks signed him back in May.
Taylor, who played his collegiate football at Boise State, was originally selected by the Miami Dolphins in the second round (54th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
He played in nine games during his rookie campaign, logging just three tackles. His role then grew in his sophomore season, as he appeared in 12 contests with three starts and totaled 31 tackles.
Taylor spent one more season with the Dolphins in 2015, posting 48 tackles, a fumble recovery, and four passes defended.

He followed that up by taking part in every game in 2017, tallying 62 stops, a forced fumble, and 10 passes defended.
Last offseason, the Browns dealt Taylor to the Arizona Cardinals, where he played 10 games and contributed 17 tackles before being waived. He then signed with the Denver Broncos in December, appearing in four contests and finishing with one tackle and a forced fumble.
The Seahawks are coming off of a 2018 campaign in which they won 10 games and earned a Wild Card berth in the NFC. They then proceeded to lose to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
