Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden has missed the team’s last two games after fracturing his tibia almost three weeks ago in a Nov. 12 contest against the Indianapolis Colts, and it’s likely that the two-time Pro Bowler will miss at least another game.

According to Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said that the exact time of return of Haden remains up in the air.

“No clarity on his situation and when he'll return,” Tomlin said. “As we get close, I'll ask more definitive questions about where he is.”

Haden, who was cut by the Cleveland Browns last August to make some cap space before getting picked up from the waivers by the Steelers, fortifies an already sturdy Pittsburgh defense when he’s healthy.

The Steelers own one of the best pass defense in the league, allowing just 193.4 passing yards per game, which is good for third overall in the NFL. There’s been a bit of a regression of late, however, as Pittsburgh allowed 264 and 227 passing yards to the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers in Steelers’ last two games, respectively, which coincided with Haden’s absences.

Haden has been in the league since 2010, but this is the first time in which he’s staring at a real opportunity to play in the playoffs, so there’s some pressure on the cornerback to get 100 percent healthy soon.

The 9-2 Steelers are in the running for the AFC’s best record, which they currently share with the defending Super Bowl champions New England Patriots
