The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Las Vegas Raiders are two teams said to be in the running for Tom Brady's services this offseason. And according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, the Buccaneers are ahead of the Raiders in the sweepstakes.
Earlier on Monday, Odds Shark had Tampa Bay listed with the best odds to sign Brady. So this does not come as much of a surprise. Plus, Las Vegas has always been considered a rather unlikely destination for Brady. This is due to the fact that the Raiders are very limited on weapons.
The Bucs, on the other hand, boast one of the NFL's best receiving duos in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. That's not even mentioning young tight end O.J. Howard. Even running back Ronald Jones showed some promise at the end of this past season.
But would Brady really go to a Buccaneers organization that has been among the league's worst for the better part of the last couple of decades?
Since last winning the Super Bowl back in 2002, Tampa Bay has made just two playoff appearances. The Bucs have also not made the postseason in 12 years, marking the longest active playoff drought in the NFC.
Of course, bringing Brady aboard could change things. Brady has won five of his six Super Bowl championships since the Bucs won their title 17 years ago. But there are also legitimate questions about Brady's future given the fact that he is coming off of a rough year and will be 43 years old at the start of next season.
