The end of Tom Brady's football career has been speculated for years. He has found a way to keep going and leading teams to success. But after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' brutal loss to the Los Angels Rams in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, the speculation on Brady's future seems as meaningful as ever.
According to ESPN, Brady is “non-committal” on playing next season. His ability to play at a high level at such an old age has earned him one of the most accomplished legacies across all sports. Eventually, he has to call it quits, and it's seeming like that time is going to be soon.
Following the Buccaneers' last-second loss to the Rams, Brady said that his future is not on his mind. The report on his future included a detail that the way the Bucs' seasons ends would be a factor in his decision. Their brief stay in the playoffs could be the reason for a huge change to the NFL landscape.
Brady on his future:
"I haven't put a lot of thought into it. We'll just take it day by day and see where we're at. … I'm not thinking about anything past 5 minutes from now."

Brady posted one of his best seasons statistically in the 2021 season. He led the league in passing yards, attempts, completions and touchdowns at 44 years old. An MVP award is well within his reach after helping the Buccaneers win the NFC South.
In the loss to the Rams, he led the Buccaneers' offense to score just three points in the first half before a monster second half. Brady ended the game with 329 passing yards, a passing touchdown, an interception and a lost fumble. Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians didn't stress any urgency on Brady's future with the team when asked about it after the game.
