Warren Sapp is a guy who has long been known for not holding his tongue, and this time, it was Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Gerald McCoy who was the victim of his verbal jabs.

Sapp, who spent most of his Hall of Fame career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, doesn't think McCoy, who spent the first nine years of his NFL tenure with the Buccaneers, is anything close to a Bucs legend:

“He's a damn good player. A damn good player. But not even close [to a legend],” said Sapp, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. “You damn sure don't get legendary status or tell somebody to put your jersey up if you don't take 'em to playoff games [laughs]. … Not one playoff game. Not even a Wild Card. I went to nine. We went 5-4.”

To be fair to McCoy, it isn't his fault that Tampa Bay didn't play in any playoff games during his time there, as the Buccaneers were simply a bad team as a whole during McCoy's stay.
McCoy, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma, was originally selected by Tampa Bay with the third overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft.

He didn't make much of an impact over his first couple of years, but by his third season, he was a Pro Bowler after totaling 30 tackles and five sacks. McCoy then had his best season in 2013, racking up 50 tackles, 9.5 sacks and a fumble recovery en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.
Overall, McCoy went to six Pro Bowls with the Bucs.
