Tom Brady has officially signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There are a lot of mixed emotions going around the football world.
Obviously, New England Patriots fans are devastated to see their long-time superstar quarterback head to a new team. Meanwhile, most Buccaneers fans are excited to have him.
Fans around the league are happy to see Brady leave New England, but sad he didn't join their favorite team. The Buccaneers have the only fans who got both wishes.
Then there's Dick Vitale. The legendary College Basketball announcer is a well-known fan of the Tampa teams. According to Garrett Stepien of 247Sports.com, Vitale posted a video excitedly welcoming Brady to the Buccaneers.
“Hey, everybody, we're so excited — Tom Brady, baby,” Vitale said in a 1:04 video, while holding a football in front of a bookcase with memorabilia. “Watch out — I'm going to take that job, No. 12. Hey, we're ready. The effect of Tom Brady — he's already been a winner. He's already thrown touchdown passes and he hasn't taken one snap yet. Why? Ticket sales. And I read today a lot of great players (said), ‘We want to come to Tampa Bay and play with Mr. Brady.' So it's going to help in free agency, getting some players.
“Hey, I love the Bucs. Look what they sent me on my 80th birthday. They sent that (signed ball and mini helmet) when I turned 80, man. From the Bucs, I got that. And you see this football? This was sent to me by Jon Gruden, when they won the Super Bowl, baby. And you know what? I want to get another one of these at the end of this year, from Mr. Arians and Mr. Brady. So go get it, Tom. Super Bowl. Yessirree. Right in Tampa Bay. And I'll be there, acting like a 12-year-old, cheering, ‘Let's go Bucs, let's go Bucs.' Tom Brady here is awesome, baby. Come on, Tom, throw a touchdown pass — ‘Evans with the catch, end zone, the Bucs win the Super Bowl, Brady and Evans, wow.'”
Vitale is clearly excited for the Buccaneers. He's not wrong.
Those rumors have been swirling that players have contacted the Buccaneers because they want to play with Brady.
Vitale also brings up a Super Bowl. And it's definitely much more likely now that Brady is in town. The Buccaneers are excited.
