The NFL has made the official announcement on Thursday morning that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston will be suspended for the first three games of the 2018 season due to his actions involved in an alleged groping of a female Uber driver back in March 2016.
Winston has already made a public statement voicing his apology to the organization and the woman involved while stating he will look to make better decisions off the field moving forward. The Bucs have also issued their statement on the situation saying that the franchise is disappointed in the 24-year-old that has put himself in a compromising spot that caused the league to take action. This has shed some negative light on the organization given that they had given Winston a chance to prove himself despite his previous transgression off the field that occurred during his collegiate career. Instead, he has taken another step back that has put the organization in a tough spot of having to support him in a situation where may have committed some highly inappropriate actions.
More anything else, this could push the franchise to consider looking elsewhere for their long-term future under center. Aside from his play on the field, these actions show that he hasn't improved his decision making away from the field that could land him more trouble down the line.
In the meantime, the Bucs will have to venture the first three games of the season without him that could put the franchise in a huge hole to start the year.
