The resurgence of Ryan Tannehill has put the Tennessee Titans in a position to possibly sneak into the playoffs in Week 17. For yet another week, Tannehill is in line for a big-time performance against the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Last offseason, Tannehill signed with the Titans with the expectation that he would be the backup to Marcus Mariota. But after a disappointing start from Mariota, Mike Vrabel made a change under center in hopes to provide a spark for the offense.
From that moment on, Tennessee has been a completely different team on the offensive side of the ball. Since being named the starter in Week 7, the veteran quarterback has played some of the best football of his career.
In his nine starts this season, Ryan Tannehill has completed 70 percent of his passes for 2,400 yards, 20 touchdowns, and five interceptions. The former quarterback of the Miami Dolphins has also rushed for 161 yards and four touchdowns.
There haven't been many quarterbacks in the NFL who have played better than Tannehill since Week 7. Without a doubt, the Titans would be in a better spot had Tannehill been the starter in Week 1.
Just last week, Tannehill did all he could to try and upset the New Orleans Saints. In that game, he threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns as the Titans fell to the Saints by the score of 38-28.
With the loss, Tennessee has to defeat the Texans in Week 17 to even have a chance of making the postseason. Given that, Ryan Tannehill will be relied upon for another week to lead the Titans to a much-needed victory.
The last time the Titans and Texans met, Tannehill had a solid outing from under center. During Tennessee's three-point loss to the Texans, Tannehill recorded 279 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

This time around, the game will take place within the confines of NRG Stadium in Houston. Above all, Ryan Tannehill should be able to pick apart Houston's mediocre pass defense on Sunday.
Heading into Week 17, the Texans boast the 30th ranked pass defense in the NFL. Provided that, Tannehill and the offense could have a field day versus the Texans' secondary.
The Texans have allowed 300 or more passing yards in three out of their last four contests. It wouldn't come as a surprise if Tannehill eclipses 300 passing yards in Sunday's crucial showdown.
Along with the matchup, Tannehill is set to become a free agent after the 2019 season. Therefore, this could be his last game to earn him a lucrative contract with the Titans.
Considering all of that, Ryan Tannehill should confidently deliver a notable outing for the Titans on Sunday versus the Texans.
