The story of Wild Card weekend is how the Tennessee Titans went to Foxborough and did something that has not been done since 2013. They took down the New England Patriots on their own field. Derrick Henry led the Titans to a 20-13 victory with 182 yards on the ground. He could not have done all the work by himself.

The offensive line of Tennessee has been heavily criticized over the course of two seasons. This was because they have been weak in pass protection. Disaster struck in a Week 3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars when then-starter Marcus Mariota was sacked nine times. The Titans allowed 56 sacks in 2019 which was 30th in the league. Ryan Tannehill was sacked 31 times since taking over the starting job.

The Titans' offensive line excelled in the run game. They were third in the NFL with 2,223 yards and an average of five yards per rush. Tennessee was also tied with the Baltimore Ravens for second in the NFL with 21 touchdowns on the ground. Against New England, the Tennessee's offensive line asserted their dominance and led the way.

The Titans ran for 201 yards in this game. They completely dominated the line of scrimmage and that was obvious just using the eye test. One of the main keys to winning on the road in the playoffs is getting the run game going and shortening the game. Tennessee did that and it worked to perfection.

Let's not forget about the Titans' pass protection. Tannehill was not asked to do too much in this game but he did make the throw of the game because of time. With 2:54 left in the fourth quarter, Tennessee were facing a third-and-eight from their own 15-yard line. Tannehill was protected long enough to hit Anthony Firkser on an out pattern for 11 yards. Tannehill was sacked just once all night.

The Titans' offensive line has been one of the best in the run game all season long and they showed up when it mattered the most. Tennessee will now travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in the AFC Divisional Round. There will be no shortage of rushing yards in this one. The Ravens are an explosive offense so the Titans need to establish Henry once again. It will once again be up to the offensive line to dominate the line of scrimmage and wear out their opponent.
