No quarterback wants to get benched but Tennesee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota understands why he had to go to the bench, although he still wasn't happy with the decision.

Mariota has been up and down this season but on Sunday it all came to a head and he really struggled. Against the Denver Broncos, he completed only seven of his 18 passes for 63 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Mariota said after the game he didn't do enough to help the team win the game and going forward he needs to be better.

“I was inaccurate today, and I didn’t give our guys a chance to make plays and that’s some of the reasons I got pulled,” Mariota said, via the team’s website. “It starts with me — I have to do a better job.”

The team decided to bring Ryan Tannehill into the game during the third quarter, and he had more success but he still couldn't get the ball into the end zone. Tannehill completed 13-of-16 passes for 144 yards but he was also sacked four times.

After the game coach Mike Vrabel wouldn't commit to who would start the team's next game against the Los Angeles Chargers but if Mariota gets his name called, he is going to be ready.

“For me, as a competitor, I would love to be out there with my guys. But it is going to come down to the coaches and what they decide. Things happen for a reason – I truly believe that. I can learn from this. I am going to grow from this and I’ll become a better player.
