Marcus Mariota may not have played a lot of football for the Tennessee Titans. However, he believes that his team is more than ready to compete when they trade blows with the Cleveland Browns for their season opener.
The franchise quarterback shared with the Titans' official website that he likes the way the team is shaping up this season. He shares that he approves the team's approach despite him only playing seven snaps against the Pittsburgh Steelers:
“I think no matter what, we’re ready to go,” Mariota said. “Since spring, I think our guys have bought into what (OC Arthur Smith) has established. Again, it’s just building one day after another.
“For me, personally, I feel like I’ve played enough ball over the last few years to kind of understand and be ready to go. Obviously, you would love to score on every possession, especially in the preseason, but at the same time, it’s a work in progress. I think when we look back on it, it’s just another step in our journey.”
The team will also look forward to his quality performances once he is healthy enough to face the Browns on September 8. He is one of the team's bright spots in the offensive end.
He consistently threw above 2500 passing yards in his four seasons with the Titans. He might have struggled through the 2018 campaign with the number of injuries he had to sustain. However, he still threw for a respectable 2528 passing yards and a decent 53.1 QB rating.
They will open the season to a tough Browns team that have names such as Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, and Baker Mayfield on their roster. Mariota must be in top shape if the Titans even hope of competing with them.
