The Washington Commanders are under investigation for numerous reasons. You would think the controlling owner, Daniel Snyder would make an appearance at his hearing on July 22. However, that appears to not be the case, as he is currently out of the country for an awards ceremony. Now, the House Oversight committee responds to Snyder's absence.

According to The Athletic, “Committee chairwoman Carolyn Maloney sent Snyder a letter on Friday, responding to his refusal to testify in the hearing.” It is rather odd that Dan Snyder is not attending his own hearing regarding the Commanders' investigations. Especially considering it would be a chance for him to potentially clear the air. Instead, he's off in France for an award show. In Maloney's letter, she states:

“I urge [Commanders' owner] Mr. Snyder to reconsider his decision to decline public testimony and by doing so refusing to accept accountability for his actions and the culture he has fostered within his team.”

Rodger Goodell will be in attendance remotely and will surely be answering some difficult questions. Maloney and five other members of Congress address Goodell, as they would like to see the reports “on the findings of the investigation into the Commanders that was conducted by Beth Wilkinson,” per The Athletic. They go on to say:

“As members representing the National Capital Region, our constituents were primarily impacted by the toxic work environment perpetrated by the Commanders and as such, deserve the transparency from the National Football League (NFL) to share the findings of the internal review.”

It's not looking great for Dan Snyder but we won't know what happens until the hearings play out. Keep an eye on the Commanders, as more information regarding Snyder's misconduct could come to light in the coming weeks.
