Ron Rivera is attempting to shift the culture for the Washington Football Team and his presence is already catching the eye of one of the team's leaders. With training camps getting underway, Adrian Peterson has been vocal about the ‘night and day' difference with Rivera at the helm.
“It’s totally different, it’s night and day. Not only just the terminology of what we’re doing offensively and defensively but the mindset of these guys, and it’s being felt,” Peterson said, via NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay. “Guys are out here paying attention to detail.”
Peterson, who's led Washington in rushing the past two years, has experienced a ton of losing in his short time in the nation's capital. Altogether, in just the past two seasons, Washington has posted an abysmal 10-22 record. Nevertheless, after making the postseason just once under Jay Gruden in the last six seasons, the front office made a much-needed change.
Article Continues BelowAfter the 2019 season concluded, Washington didn't waste much time finding their next head coach. Seeing what he did during his time with the Carolina Panthers, Washington was enamored with the idea of hiring Rivera. However, Rivera understood that turning around Washington wasn't going to happen overnight.
In recent seasons, Washington has failed to produce a product that fans could be excited about. Part of that was the culture (or lack thereof) of the front office and coaching staff. But now, with Ron Rivera calling the shots, Peterson and others are noticing a positive difference in the way the team is responding.
