Alex Smith has begun practicing with the Washington Football Team for the first time since the 2018 season. After experiencing a grueling process to return to football, Smith sent out an inspirational message on his personal road to recovery.

During a video that was posted on the team's official website, Smith spoke about the journey ahead:

“We all face adversity in life. It comes in different forms. Was I going to talk about it or be about it? However this comes out, I’m going to be better off for it,” Smith said. “I continue to make gains. I continue to get better, even in these last few weeks. For me, that continues to excite me, that I can keep pushing on. At some point I’ll find out what my limitations are, but I haven’t found them yet.”

For those that don't know, Smith has had to overcome an endless amount of obstacles since his first season with Washington in 2018. In the latter portion of the 2018 season, Smith would suffer a devastating leg injury versus the Houston Texans after taking a hit from multiple defenders.

Since then, Smith has undergone countless surgeries and dealt with multiple infections. Nevertheless, he's miraculously battled his way back and could be part of Washington's quarterback equation in 2020.

There's no doubt that second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins has the upper hand when it comes to starting in the upcoming season. Regardless of whether or not Alex Smith takes a single snap, he's provided motivation for people across the world due to his unrelenting efforts to return to the NFL.
