Jaromir Jagr is one of the best players to ever play in the NHL. His skills on the ice cannot be understated, as he holds multiple records despite not playing in the league for a long time. However, his greatest asset may as well be his compassion for others, as seen with his recent moves in his hometown.

Amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Jaromir Jagr announced that the NHL legend's team Kladno will be playing their final home game of the season in the much larger O2 Arena. This is because the proceeds from the game will go to helping the Ukrainian refugees seeking asylum in the Czech Republic (via NHL.com)

“We would dedicate the proceeds from the entrance fee to Ukrainian families,” he wrote. “I would like to make this happen in the O2 Arena, because it is a popular and modern arena, where a large number of people can come to help. I would like your opinion if you would come to the match and help us in this way those who need it the most at this time.”

After garnering much support from fans, Jagr and Kladno pushed through with the move. The 02 Arena has a maximum seating capacity of 18,000, so selling that crowd out will mean a lot to the Ukrainian refugees. This is a heartwarming move from the NHL legend amidst a critical situation.

The NHL and the hockey world has been caught up in this Russia – Ukraine war as well. With hockey being a popular sport in Russia, it has led some fans (and a certain Wayne Gretzy) to entertain the idea of banning said players from competing in international tournaments.
