A divisional rivalry matchup takes place in Dallas tonight as the Stars play host to the Winnipeg Jets for round three out of four of this divisional series. The last two times these teams met, the home team walked away with the two points, however, both games also went to overtime or shootout. Both teams are also currently just out of a playoff spot, trying to catch up to the Nashville Predators in the standings. It's not going to be an easy game for either team as it’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Jets-Stars prediction and pick.

Why The Jets Can Cover The Spread/Win

On paper, the Jets are a fantastic team, but they're just 22-20-8 on the season and currently sit in sixth place in the Central Division with 52 points. The Jets are averaging 2.88 goals per game, which ranks them 20th in the league but their top talent players just haven't been making the moves that Jets fans have been hoping for, besides Kyle Connor, who leads the way with 54 points so far. Other than that, Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, and Pierre-Luc Dubois are the big names up front while Neil Pionk and Nate Schmidt are big names on the back end.

However, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is their star player as he'll look to be in the blue paint tonight against Dallas. Despite his sub-.500 record (17-18-7) and lacking numbers than what we're used to seeing out of him (.914 save percentage), Hellebuyck is still one of the most talented goalies in the league, he's just simply not getting the offensive support that the Jets need right now. Hopefully, that changes tonight as they look forward to those pesky two points.

Why The Stars Can Cover The Spread/Win

Much like the Jets, Dallas is a great team on paper but currently sit in fifth place in the Central Division with 56 points. The Stars' offense has been brutal in their past two games, scoring just one goal on a combined 62 shots. The Stars are now ranked 21st in the league for offensive production averaging 2.86 goals per game. However, Dallas is a very strong team at home, with a 17-7-1 record while in their own barn. A lot of that can be credited towards Jake Oettinger, who is 15-6-0 on the year so far with a .912 save percentage and 2.34 goals against. He'll look to get the start between the home pipes tonight as the Stars will lean on him in order to keep it close and pull away with a victory at home.

Final Jets-Stars Prediction & Pick

Dallas is a healthy group that's 17-7-1 at home and probably eager to get back on the ice after losing in embarrassing fashion to the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday. The Jets, however, are missing a few guys due to injury and are 9-10-7 on the road. They've also lost their past five games in Dallas. Give me Dallas Moneyline tonight, I think they pull off a win at home and get back on track towards trying to make the playoffs.
