Why The Oilers Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Edmonton Oilers are heading into this game on a three-game winning streak and picked up their fourth win in the past five games on Friday. The Oilers are scoring 3.46 goals per game, tied for sixth in the league, but are allowing 3.25 goals per game, ranking them 23rd. In case you couldn't tell based on those stats, the Oilers have a defense and goaltending problem. Yes, they have amazing offensive firepower, but just can't seem to stop pucks from getting into their own net.

There's no confirmation on who is going to be starting in the net tonight for the Oilers, but one can assume it would be Mike Smith. On the year, Smith is repping a .894 save percentage while allowing 3.49 goals against. He'll have to step it up tonight if the Oilers want to get an extra two points before the playoffs start at the end of this month.

Why The Ducks Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Anaheim Ducks finally snapped their 11-game losing streak, and because of that, slid all the way down to sixth in their division. They started the season out so hot, and they had everyone worried that they were a good team for a while. But then they started to slip, and ended up not only sellers at the deadline, but not even in playoff contention anymore. At this point, it's safe to assume that the Ducks are more than happy to move on into the next season. Starting in goal tonight for the Ducks is more than likely John Gibson, who is a very respected goaltender throughout the league. His numbers on the season don't reflect on his skills as he is sporting a .905 save percentage and allowing 3.09 goals per game. He'll have to keep it close tonight against a strong Oilers program.

Final Oilers-Ducks Prediction & Pick

The Ducks may have snapped their 11-game losing streak in their last game, but that doesn't mean they're good again. They're also logging their third game in four days, which always takes a toll on the players, no matter what team they're on. This is another no-brainer here tonight, I'm taking the Oilers in a 3Way Moneyline bet for better odds, forcing them to win in regulation, but I think they can handle that no problem.

Final Oilers-Ducks Prediction and Pick: Oilers 3Way Moneyline (-130)
