When Nike took over as the official apparel provider of the NBA, they didn't just put the iconic swoosh on the uniforms. As it turns out, the upcoming league jerseys have a new feature that will allow fans to get more involved.

The apparel giant revealed on Friday that through the new NikeConnect system embedded in the NBA jersey's jock tag, fans can get exclusive content such as highlights, video recaps, and game-day footages related to the jersey's player and team.

The technology is available in both the authentic and swingman jerseys, and fans can take advantage of this new feature just by scanning the jock tag with a smartphone via the NikeConnect App available for iPhone and Android devices with NFC capability. A NikePlus account is also needed to connect.

Exclusive offers such as limited shoe releases, game tickets, and player-produced Spotify playlists will be given as well, along with access to player statistics, box scores, and a pre-game countdown to tip-off.

Additionally, for those playing NBA2K18, scanning a player's jersey will give a “boost” code which will make that player better in the popular video game.

“Our Nike uniforms set a new standard for connecting our most passionate fans with their favorite NBA teams and players,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in the league's official news release. “Nike has once again taken the game of basketball to a new level, this time with one of the most advanced jerseys in sports.”

The new Nike jerseys will be available globally on September 29, with the swingman jerseys expected to be worth around $110 and the authentic ones at $200.
