First released in 2016, No Man's Sky was hyped up to epic proportions before it came out, and the inevitable disappointment after it failed to deliver on its promises caused a catastrophic fall for developer Hello Games. But this week, five years later, their continuous hard work and toil to make up for it have finally paid off. No Man's Sky is finally “Very Positive” on Steam.

No Man's Sky Steam Reviews:

The momentous occasion for the game was first reported by NewBlood's Dave Oshry, and can be seen in the tweet below:

It cements one hell of a comeback from Hello Games, soldiering on to eventually meet (and even in some ways, surpass) their initial promises. It's become much more than a lonely space exploration game now.

There have been countless free updates to No Man's Sky across all platforms, not just Steam, since its initial release. The most recent one, Frontiers, allows players to build and run their own settlements. Players will be able to meet different citizens, help them, and decide the course of their future. The official Steam page for the No Man's Sky Frontiers update reads:

“Frontiers introduces the concept of large living breathing planetary settlements which travelers can encounter, interact with, and even be elected Overseer of. As the leader of your adopted people, travelers can choose to help them, even lead them, ensure their future prosperity and happiness, and ultimately develop these fledgling towns into even larger towns.

In addition to the introduction of these settlements, Frontiers brings a huge overhaul to base building with hundreds of new base parts, advanced building controls, and a new grid menu to aid with even more fanciful constructions.”

What a way to earn back the player base's trust. It has certainly come a long way thanks to its developers' relentless pursuit to keep going. Additionally, not a lot of games have gotten player's goodwill back as much as No Man's Sky has. Other games would just launch poorly and underdeliver. They would stay that way until the ebb and flow of time eventually erases them from video game discussions and conversations.

Meanwhile, speaking of other games that crashed and fell on release but have finally turned back the tide and risen above their initial disaster, Final Fantasy XIV is releasing its new expansion this November. The next FFXIV Live Letter is happening this month, and you can check the details here.
