Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray is expected to miss a huge chunk of the season because of a torn ACL, but his latest workout is raising hopes he could return earlier than expected.

On Instagram, Murray posted a video of him being able to dunk, which is a good sign for the Nuggets guard. After all, it has been just a little over six months since he sustained the season-ending injury.

Of course that doesn't mean Jamal Murray will be able to return to game action in a month or two. Playing in a real NBA match is totally different, and the Nuggets star certainly needs to clear some more checkpoints before he's given the green light to suit up for the team.

What the video shows, however, is that Murray is progressing nicely in his recovery. The Nuggets did not provide any timeline for his rehab and return, but what he has shown should boost optimism that he would be able to play sooner rather than later.

The Nuggets start their season Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns, and while it will be difficult without Murray, they undoubtedly still have enough talent to compete. Aside from reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, the likes of Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon and Monte Morris should be able to give Denver some much-needed boost.
