Between last season and now, the Denver Nuggets have kept one of the NBA's best continuity by not changing their roster very much. That, in part, has led to the Nuggets' winning ways, between finishing second in the loaded Western Conference last year and currently in the same spot this season.

Nuggets head coach Mike Malone would tend to agree that roster turnover is bad. Speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon, the Denver coach iterated that he would not want to see his team change before the league's trade deadline next month, via DNVR's Harrison Wind.

“I hope we can keep this team. I know what this team is capable of and when you have injuries, knowing you have guys that are playoff tested and have been there and done that and can step in and fill those minutes is very reassuring and comforting. I also know it’s a business.

“I know these guys all want to play. We have six guys in contract years. When you add all that together it makes for a very tough task for everybody. But I couldn’t be prouder of how we’ve handled it.”

Malone, in his fifth season with the Mile High City franchise, signed a contract extension with the Nuggets two weeks ago, agreeing to stay in Denver through the 2022-23 season.

The Nuggets are built as one of the most organic teams in the league. They have drafted current high-profile players such as guard Jamal Murray and center Nikola Jokic along with having a keen eye for talent across the NBA, like veteran wing Will Barton, who has made strides with Denver since he was traded by the Portland Trail Blazers in 2015.

For the Nuggets, no news is good news as they continue chugging along and winning ball games as a team.
