Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic had his first taste of postseason action on Saturday night, and immediately made the history books.

In Game 1 of their opening round series against the San Antonio Spurs, Jokic became just the fourth player in NBA history to notch a triple-double in his first career playoff game, per Justin Kubatko on Twitter.

Jokic tallied 10 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists on the night. Unfortunately, this effort wasn't enough for Denver to overcome the Spurs, which pulled off the Game 1 upset over the no. 2 seeded Nuggets.

Jokic faced numerous double-teams throughout the night. For most of the night, the pass-happy center made the right play. Unfortunately, the Nuggets couldn't take advantage of the double-teams that the Spurs put on their big man, as they only made 42 percent of their shots. Perhaps the jitters got to most of these Nuggets, who made their postseason debut last night.

Denver had plenty of chances down the stretch to escape with the victory and keep their home court advantage.

With 6.9 seconds remaining and San Antonio up by three, Denver squandered an opportunity to tie the game after Jamal Murray committed a costly turnover while sprinting down the court.

A couple of seconds earlier, with Denver trailing by one, Murray failed to cash in on a wide-open mid-range jumper to give Denver the lead. Jokic, likewise, had his own crucial turnover with 50 seconds remaining in the contest.

Jokic couldn't find his rhythm either offensively with the different looks the Spurs gave him throughout the night. He attempted just nine shots, and made four of them.

Sure, San Antonio's defensive scheme may have forced him to play that way in Game 1. But Jokic will have to be more assertive on offense and look to score more the rest of the way.

Denver will look to avenge their series opener loss on Tuesday.
