At this point in his career, it's nearly impossible to imagine Nikola Jokic wearing a jersey other than that of the Denver Nuggets. For their part, the Nuggets have made sure that this is not going to happen after they signed the reigning back-to-back MVP to a record-breaking $260 million supermax extension that will keep him in Denver through 2028.

As it turns out, destiny had a bit of a role to play in Jokic achieving his NBA dream with the Nuggets. In 2000, some 14 years before Denver selected him as the 41st overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, there turned out to be a major sign of what was to come for Jokic and his future in the NBA. A photo of a five-year-old Jokic wearing a Denver Nuggets sweatshirt is making its rounds on social media, and it's nothing short of amazing:

It was Miško Ražnatović, Jokic's sports agent, who shared the photo on Instagram. In his caption, he shared how much of an astounding coincidence it was that a young boy from a small Serbian town was wearing, of all things, a sweater that had the logo of his future team:

This is Nikola Jokic, double NBA MVP, at about five years of age in his hometown of Sombor, Serbia. Back in 2000, when this photo was taken, he is wearing a @nuggets sweatshirt – not because he loved basketball or even knew about the Nuggets – but because he got it as a present. Chances of a kid from a small Serbian town having a sweatshirt from a lesser known American team back in 2000 were minimal (unless we're talking about famous clubs such as @lakers or @bulls). Chances of anyone knowing about the Nuggets in a small Serbian town were next to nothing.

That's just amazing. It's a bit hard to believe, actually, but there's literally photo evidence to prove the legitimacy of this claim. There's no better way to describe this than destiny, I guess.
