The Ole Miss Rebels were unable to defeat the Baylor Bears in the Sugar Bowl. They struggled throughout most of the game and failed to score more than seven points. Early in the matchup, star quarterback Matt Corral fell to injury. Lane Kiffin reacts to the situation.

According to ESPN, Lane Kiffin realizes the scenario Matt Corral is in. Considering the Ole Miss quarterback is a rookie prospect for the NFL, opting out of the Sugar Bowl was a valid option. Regardless, Corral wanted to play and be there for his team.

Kiffin realizes what's at stake for his quarterback and has an emotional response to Matt Corral.

“That's obviously a difficult situation, especially when a kid's playing in the game, you know, so my mind raced with a lot of thoughts right there, you know, and that's just my love for him, just like I would if it was my own son in that situation.”

Matt Corral seems to have become the poster boy for college players opting out. It's not an ideal scenario, as the players should have the freedom to make a decision on their future without being judged. It would have been great to see the Ole Miss quarterback play the full game in the Sugar Bowl. Lane Kiffin continues with his reaction, per ESPN.

“So you know, maybe I didn't do a great enough job with the team, because you know, I was really hurting for him in that situation because I know how much he's put into it, how much it means to him. And for that to be taken away like that, you know, it really sucks.”

We'll see how it all plays out, but Matt Corral has plenty of time to heal before the NFL Draft. Keep an eye on the Ole Miss quarterback, as he could still be a first-round selection in April. With the NFL combine to prepare for, we should see Corral bounce back.
