Stephen Curry and Team USA beat Team France on Saturday by a score of 98-87, giving Steve Kerr, LeBron James and company the gold medal over Evan Fournier and Victor Wembanyama's team.

Afterward, Curry took time out to speak to legendary sports broadcaster Mike Tirico. Curry was asked by Tirico if the game felt like a Game 7 in the NBA, and the Golden State Warriors star delivered a “special” message to the fans after hitting all the clutch shots to end Wemby and France's upset bid.

“It is special,” Curry said. “When we won our last championship, I knew this was gonna be on the horizon and something that I was excited to go after. For me to get a gold medal is insane.

“And I thank God for the opportunity.”

Stephen Curry's “special” words came after he scored 24 points, all on 3-pointers, with four of those coming down the stretch to put France to bed. While Curry finished the Olympics with two standout performances, it was LeBron who won Olympic MVP for his consistent greatness throughout the Games. James' MVP award caused a split among fans, many of whom thought that Curry should have won the award, even despite his struggles to start the tournament.

Regardless, both NBA legends played key roles in the gold medal win and added to their stacked resumes. This was Curry's first Olympics, so now he finally adds that elusive gold medal to his four NBA championships, two MVPs and the Finals MVP he earned in 2022. LeBron won his third gold medal to go along with his four NBA titles, four Finals MVPs and four MVPs.

Curry, teammates bury France from long range

Team USA got 15 points each from Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. They also got 14 points from LeBron James, who made Steve Kerr look smarter with each passing game as he dominated on drives to the basket while playing a strong all-around game.

Curry shot 8-for-13 from 3-point range on the day while Kevin Durant shot 3-for-9, helping to lead Team USA to one of its most memorable gold medal wins in Summer Olympics history.

With Curry leading the way, Team USA made a record 18 triples in the Olympic final.
