Damian Lillard is expected to miss several games for the Portland Trail Blazers and could even miss the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA season after going under the knife to repair an upper-body injury. But at least he appears to be in good sports following the surgery Thursday morning.
Via Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports:
Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard tells @YahooSports that he “feels good” after undergoing successful surgery on his abdomen this morning in Philadelphia – which was performed by Dr. William C. Meyers – and he is now expected to be re-evaluated in 5-6 weeks.
Lillard has yet to play a game since the calendar flipped to 2022, and his absence has unsurprisingly been immensely felt on the floor by the Blazers. Nevertheless, Portland has gone 3-2 in five games thus far this year, even scoring a huge 114-108 upset win over the Brooklyn Nets at home on Monday.

CJ McCollum's looming return from a collapsed lung would be a big lift for the Blazers, but if the team fades away from the postseason race, that could be enough reason for Portland to keep Lillard out of action until the end of the season.
The Blazers are currently 10th in the Western Conference standings with a 16-24 record.
