Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is proceeding ahead of schedule after undergoing offseason foot surgery.
Jams Palmer of NFL Network reported Mahomes is expected to participate in the Chiefs' organized team activities (OTAs) starting next week:
“Per source, Patrick Mahomes is ahead of schedule in his rehab and will participate in the #chiefs OTAs that start on May 25th,” Palmer tweeted. “The thought right now is he will “do some stuff” and will then be fully ready to go for training camp.”
This is obviously very encouraging news for the Chiefs.
Mahomes dealt with turf toe towards the end of the regular season and pretty much throughout the NFL playoffs. The issue might not necessarily have been exacerbated by all the scrambling he had to do in the Super Bowl, but it probably didn't help matters, either. Nevertheless, it appears the 2018 NFL MVP is already raring to go as the Chiefs hope to win another Lombardi Trophy in 2021.

The Chiefs and general manager Brett Veach made it their mission to address the offensive line this spring. Kansas City signed veteran guard Joe Thuney and brought Kyle Long out of retirement. The Chiefs also pulled off a savvy move to acquire star tackle Orlando Brown Jr. from the Baltimore Ravens.
Still, Mahomes is at the epicenter of the Chiefs' potential success. He might also have added motivation after he and his fiancee, Brittany Matthews, welcomed a baby girl earlier this year.
The revenge tour is beginning earlier than anticipated.
