The Indiana Pacers saw their decades-long home winning record get snapped on Tuesday after their blowout loss to Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers, who in turn secured a much-needed victory.

Before the sorry loss, the Pacers had a winning record at home for 31 straight seasons. As pointed out by Pacers beat reporter Tony East, the only active player on the roster who was alive when the insane streak started is 32-year-old Justin Holiday.

This is a bummer for Pacers fans, especially those who have been following the team for decades. The home winning streak started in 1990 when the likes of Reggie Miller, Chuck Person, and Randy Wittman were leading the squad.

After finishing as one of the top-seeded teams last season, the Pacers now find themselves in ninth place in the Eastern Conference and are in danger of having to go through the play-in tournament to return to the NBA Playoffs.

The injury bug has certainly hit the team as All-Star center Domantas Sabonis has been out with a sore lower back, along with TJ Warren (left foot stress fracture), Myles Turner (partial plantar plate tear), Jeremy Lamb (sore left knee), and Goga Bitadze (left ankle sprain).

Prior to Tuesday’s loss, the Pacers were one of 10 teams the Trail Blazers haven’t beaten all season. Had they won, they would’ve swept the Trail Blazers for the first time since the 2007-2008 season. But Lillard and the rest of Rip City played like they wanted the game bad, breaking their five-game losing streak.

The Pacers have gone 5-5 in their last 10 games.
