Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner reportedly sustained a slight fracture in his right hand. He will be re-evaluated in the coming days to get more details regarding his injury situation, per The Athletic‘s Shams Charania.
Turner has taken a backseat in the team's offense in the early stages of the season after the recent emergence of Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon. However, he continues to be an inside threat for the Pacers and is currently leading the league in blocked shots with an average of 4.2 per game.
He last took the floor against the Portland Trail Blazers back on Jan. 14. where he notched a double-double performance of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Huge outings from Sabonis and Brogdon eventually lifted the Pacers to a 111-87 victory over the Trail Blazers.
Indiana skipped their ensuing game against the Phoenix Suns after it was postponed due to COVID-19 related concerns. The Pacers finally managed to suit up against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night without Turner at the helm.
Swingman Doug McDermott balled out with 23 points followed by Sabonis who produced 19 points and 14 rebounds of his own. However, their production wasn't enough to counter the Clippers' offense bannered by seven players scoring in double digits.
The Pacers eventually lost on a 129-96 lopsided defeat to drop back to an 8-5 record while the Clippers improved to a 10-4 tally. The team is hoping that Myles Turner can rejoin the team as soon as possible as they host Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 20.
