Victor Oladipo of the Indiana Pacers, who suffered what's probably a season-ending knee injury, knew that it was serious the moment he slipped.
In the second quarter of the Pacers' 110-106 victory over the Toronto Raptors, Oladipo fell to the floor after a failed attempt at intercepting the forward pass to Pascal Siakam. After the game, he shared, via Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun:
“I just slipped and knew it was serious. We'll see what tomorrow shows and go from there. My teammates stepped up earlier this season and everyone has the utmost confidence going forward.”
The injury has not been identified yet but it will require the 26-year-old to go under the needle, thus, ending his season. Reports reveal that he will go thru an MRI on Thursday to identify the injury and its gravity.
Victor Oladipo has turned into the Pacers' franchise player after being traded last season from the Oklahoma City Thunder. In his first year in Indiana, he was crowned Most Improved Player, named into the All-Star Team, the NBA All-Defensive First Team, and the All-NBA Third Team.
The six-year man is averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.7 steals across 32.5 minutes per game. The Pacers sport a 32-15 record which is good for third place the in Eastern Conference. Though no one considers them as a legitimate championship threat, they have managed to fly under the radar and sneak win after win.
It would be interesting to see how they move forward without their best player on the court. The likes of Thaddeus Young, Myles Turner, and Darren Collison are expected to fill in the void left by Oladipo.
